WHO DO YOU TRUST?

Is there such a thing, as old fashion hate? Race and religion are the dark staples-guilty for millions of lives lost and every day a cruel word. But there is another more insidious form of intolerance digging in for the long haul here in America and around the world.

Xenophobia-the fear and hatred of strangers. Beyond skin color and foreign accent, it is the qualities of belief, value, faith that spark today's judgment. Invisible at first glance, such intolerance has created a landscape of mistrust and paranoia that is threatening to poison many communities. Ironically, these essentials of identity-physical, cultural, moral-are those qualities that both separate us and make us a community.

This website is at its heart, about neutralizing fear based on difference. It is about seeing others with whom you share something you might never suspect. It is about finding common ground.

So, why not contribute by inputting a photo of yourself and 5 words that reflect your identity. It is important to choose words that are simple-one-word nouns that might be considered an "identity label" -words that generally might answer the question:

What am I? Or finish the statement: I am a friend, father, sister, plumber, New Yorker, survivor. Or, I am Native American, Catholic, African-American, straight, bi, Muslim etc.
